On Thursday 10th December 2020, the Axione teams and their partners delivered a 28-metre radio mast—by helicopter—right to the Gif-sur-Yvette sports complex (Essonne department) in the Île-de-France region.

This was carried out on behalf of our client and owner of the mast, Cellnex, and the two operators.

This was a major challenge for the teams, who had to coordinate dismantling the existing mast at the same time. This new piece of infrastructure measures 28 metres in height, weighs 9 tonnes, and will provide the area with 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile network coverage.

This is a standout operation for Network Life Cycle and for Axione employees, as it is the first time a mast has been delivered by helicopter to a densely populated area (Zone Très Dense). This mast was designed by ATF (a company that specialises in the design of mast infrastructure) and fits seamlessly into the city’s landscape thanks to its very stylish tube-shaped radome. It also has a waterproof protective cover to protect a telecoms antenna from adverse weather conditions.

This major operation demonstrates our ability to manage the delivery of radio infrastructure in densely populated areas. We could not have carried out this project without proper coordination between the various stakeholders involved.”

Paul Ripaux, Head of the Axione TowerCo IDF Production Unit.
Paul andhis teams managed the coordination of the entire operation.

« This project responds to the challenges of widespread radio infrastructure rollout that we are currently facing. »
Cyril Puiseux, Director of DPR Axione Île-de-France.

Congratulations to the 6 Axione employees for this great achievement.
